The seminar on cross regional collaboration titled “A look into the future from European and Asia” was an innitiative jointly organized by Architects Regional Council Asia (ARCASIA) and Architects Council of Europe (ACE). It was held within the UIA’s 2017 Seoul World Architects Congresswhich took place last September.

Ar. Nuno Soares was a speaker with a lecture titled “Faculty Training – Designing the Design Studio” sharing the methodology and results of a pioneering model of workshops conceived to improve the quality of the architecture teaching in Asia.

The event was led by ARCASIA President Jahangir Khan, and ACE President Lucianno Lazzari, with the participation of the President UIA – Esa Mohamed; other notable speakers also included Livio Sacchi from CNAPPC, Arturo Lavalle and Valina Geropanta from Guglielmo Marconi University and Mikako Oshima from Japan representing ACYA. The main focus of this initiative was to promote architecture education and its key role for the future exchanges between both regional councils.

With the theme “Soul of City”, the UIA 2017 Seoul World Architects Congress sought out a reflection on the professional roles of urban architecture towards a revival of the city, regarding the elements which elevate its soul: culture, future, nature, passion and human values.
