CURB – Center for Architecture and Urbanism partnering with UN-Habitat and the World Urban Campaign hosted the Urban Thinkers Campus (UTC) 3.0 Macau. This served as a platform for debating the theme ‘Density For The Common Good: Implementing The New Urban Agenda’.

This initiative from UN-Habitat’s World Urban Campaign intended to discuss the quality of life in Macau, tackling subjects such as urbanization challenges and proposed new critical solutions for a more sustainable development. The main topics discussed were focused on the matters of climate change, housing, urban prosperity and public space.

Ar. and Professor Nuno Soares was the coordinator of the event and the first speaker of the day followed by José Luís Sales Marques [IEEM], Hendrik Tieben [CUHK], Ao Peng Kong [LECM], Álvaro Barbosa [USJ], among other speakers. The event welcomed 60 participants from the academia, government, professional and local associations.

The issues discussed were raised by the New Urban Agenda adopted at the United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development and are especially important to Macau to present itself as a smart and sustainable city that faces the problems of fast development.
